Hand Painted Miniature/Dollhouse Signs

Happy 2017! I hope your year is off to a WONDERFUL start and if not, I hope it turns that direction as soon as possible!

I have a great deal of success with my Christmas ornaments and have been working to find something to create the rest of the year. While the ornaments sell year round, there are times when it’s a full time job (more than a full time job if I’m being real about that) but there are many times where it’s just too too quiet.

This year, I plan on trying several things that interest me. For a long time (and you remember this if you’ve followed my blog a while), I have had interest in Shabby Chic decor as well as miniatures. This sort of inspired me to create a few new items:

And then, I wanted to do a little rustic one…you know for log cabin enthusiasts like myself ūüôā

And, most of all, thanks for sticking with me through all my changes and through feeling my way around. Eventually, just maybe I’ll have it all together with a direction and a purpose. Somehow, it feels closer than it ever has ūüôā

I Found My Hallelujah!

In my life as of late, all signs are pointing to change and as we know, change can sometimes be a very crippling thing. Most of the time, I’m easily adaptable to change and sort of go with the flow. I’ve welcomed it. With age and as some of those changes result in some very trying times, it’s only natural to become a bit more resistant to it.¬†When past successes are now failures, it’s no longer a choice to change but a necessity for mere survival.

As I¬†get older, I think about what I¬†have done in this world to make it a better place and to bring happiness and positivity to others. That’s very important to me. Life can be so hard that it knocks us down time and time again. We learn, we grow and we become stronger during the process. For me, my faith increases and learning what the important things are in life becomes clear.

During this low point of my life, I’ve prayed for guidance and kept the faith that something would be revealed to me for a direction in which to: stay self-employed, be inspiring and spread happiness. One afternoon, I was sitting at the computer and went to YouTube to listen to a little music. I listened to Gwen Stefani’s new song “Make Me Like You” and then thought of Andy Grammer’s “Good to Be Alive”. Here’s the video:

What a happy video! I love his message and paused it right at the beginning when I realized I should do a play on this song for my next sign. I didn’t do the exact phrase because I wouldn’t have wanted to take lyrics like that but I did make it into a shorter phrase while keeping that same feeling.

Here it is in an aqua and white beachy sign:

I was really excited about getting this one ready in the rustic stain with the white writing:

These are listed in my shop here and are available in any colors one might like.

I’m so excited about these. They are just happiness on a piece of reclaimed wood. I love my job.

Vintage Inspired Wedding Sign

A previous client contacted me to create a sign for her child to hold at her wedding. I was so honored to create it for her. At the beginning of the process, I realized it would be a fun process to video and share. I posted it on YouTube and you can see it by clicking here. IMG_7745-001

It was important to me to share this video because I hoped to inspire some of you to get creative and have some fun with perhaps some artwork for your home. Of course, if you don’t want to DIY it, I’d be happy to create it for you…just let me know what you have in mind.¬†There are a good many things I create but don’t post them in my shop.I’m trying to be better about posting and sharing them here, though .

I’m loving posting the videos on YouTube, too! Back in 2011, I created a video and put it up but then I moved and things sort of fell by the wayside. Currently, I have 11 subscribers and that is so much fun! I hope to have lots more soon, but¬†it’s necessary¬†to have more¬†content to get people interested. I’m working on it. ūüôā

Joy, Peace, Love

I went into detail on the creation of this piece on the listing, but I thought I’d come and post photos of the piece here, too.

A sweet new sign I have been working on a couple of days and finished up this morning:

Golden Wedding Pretties

A couple of new creations for a dear friend of mine who’s getting married very soon. The item on the left is a large chalkboard in a gold frame they’ll be using for the beer menu they have brewed themselves! The item on the right is a sign their Ring Bearer will have for going down the aisle. Melissa and Bryan – I wish you a lifetime of happiness. HUGE XOXOXOXOXOXOXO’s!!!!

It’s all about love :)

My newest creation….a rustic love sign perfect for wedding tables, but the most beautiful thing is that it’s not just a decoration for the wedding day. It’s made for home decor, too. It looks beautiful on a wall or piece of furniture. I’m in love with love. I have it listed here ūüôā¬†

I so enjoy what I do and the fact that I get to spend my days creating beautiful things for beautiful people for the beautiful moments in their lives. Some may look at weddings as being overindulgence or something, but I truly try to create pieces that will be cherished long after the wedding is over. New couples tend to have a brand new house to decorate…what could be more perfect than some of the gentle reminders of their wedding day?¬†

Here’s your sign :)

And a pretty special one too! I made this one with thoughts of them being perfect for table numbers at a wedding but realized they are great to leave notes to loved ones and give as gifts after the wedding. ūüôā¬†

Rustic is just perfection to me so I used burlap and jute as the materials on this wooden frame. I made the center portion a chalkboard so it’s ready for use and can be used from showers to weddings to inside the home afterwards. I love something that has lots of uses like this! Seems like money well spent, which is always a plus in my personal life too.¬†

Here’s how they turned out:
