Embracing Life

There are no brakes on life. It’s hard and fast and furious if we fight it and try to slow it down. Since that doesn’t work, what if we embrace it – no matter what the old devil has thrown at us? He will make sure to distract us with things that keep us down rather than build us up. He makes evil things look like something we want or something we should want in order to be happy. But we never are.

I painted this painting called “Hello World” back in 2015:

It’s funny my very own work means something more to me now than it did back then. When I painted it, I was thinking of a world of possibilities and welcoming those possibilities. And, I still do think of this.  Now, I also see him/her outstretched and looking to God for guidance and being open, welcoming His presence. Since there are large buildings, I imagine him/her to be in the city where there is lots of noise and distractions but he/she is focused, has direction and determination.

Because of all this, I love the painting even more. I’ve held on to this piece for a good deal of time but I do feel the time is right.  I have it listed in the shop .

I hope this piece brings someone joy, just as it has me.

Owls and Elephants? Oh my!

It’s been a while since I’ve painted some fun ACEO miniatures. They are so enjoyable and a great stress reliever…why don’t I do these more often? I finished these up this week and have them both listed on eBay up for auction as we speak so I wanted to be sure to share them here, too.

The first one I did features an owl. To me, he (or she) is deep in thought, almost mesmerized by the moon in front of him (or her) with the picturesque view. How much closer can one get? For the colors in the sky, I wanted them to be a bit complex and not too simple. Blends of ivory, yellow, purple and blue were used to create a mood. I call it “Deep Thoughts” and it’s listed here.

For the second one, I’ve been fascinated by elephants lately and wanted to create an elephant couple. Actually while I was looking at stamps, I found one with the elephants having their trunks together in a heart. How precious! While this is all hand painted and tiny with no stamp used at all, I’m really happy with how it turned out. I used black for the ground as if in silhouette and the sky gray and overcast to allow the elephants and their love to shine through. After that, I thought it could use a little something extra so I added some white and black paint splatters…always a fun addition to any piece! It’s listed here.

I hope your weekend is starting off to be a wonderful one, my friends!

Paintings Galore

I was able to reach my goal of getting 48 listings up today! I figured I’d make another post this evening and then I’m going to leave the computer for a good long while. It’s been a long day of listing, editing photos, sharing photos and such. Though, I truly love my “job”!

“Coffee Solves Everything” ACEO Acrylics on Canson, listed here

Okay, that’s enough for tonight and probably more than anyone would want to actually look through at one time. I realize these are photo heavy but maybe my overly talkative post earlier today makes up for that. 🙂

xoxo and good night my friends,

Rhonda

Hello World!

When you start a new blog with wordpress, the draft that it automatically posts is one that’s titled “Hello World”. That was the idea behind this painting. An owl in a city – perhaps on a rooftop of a tall building, full moon overhead…wings spread wide feeling the breeze and moon beams. Oh what a night!

“hello world” 2.5×3.5 acrylics on Canson. I listed this on ebay here

Preparation

Owls need clothes sometimes, too. There’s a formal event coming up and Stella needs to create a beautiful evening gown. Since her wing span is larger than most, she needed a dress form. Her tape measure is around her neck, her glasses are on for seeing the tiny threads and she’s ready to sew the day away. I’m certain she has some Classic Rock going because she looks like that’s her type of style.
