Discoveries & Life

I think all of us artists – and really all humans in general – never lose some of that inner child. The child who loves exploring possibilities, feeling the rain upon our faces, wants the good guys to win, wants attention and much more. Artists, though – well we are a special kind of human child-adult for life. At least that is the case for me lol 🙂

In my childhood years, I was lucky enough to have parents who encouraged and challenged me to be anything I wanted to be. The twist to that is that I went down an obscene number of career paths. Even within the art world, I have traveled many paths. The consistent, though, is my hand painted ornaments.

There are customers who come yearly for special hand painted creations and it warms my heart and fills my soul with incredibly joy. Is it strange to say that I feel as though I’m a part of their lives in a small yet memorable way? It means something to me. I wonder if they know how delighted and honored I am to see their name pop up with an order or message.

My biggest hope is that my customers know it’s not a “job” to me but it’s my life that I’m sharing with them. Any ornament is an extension of something very personal and very vulnerable within me. Each one is custom painted with so much love and care.

You’ll see more of my work shared here because I want everything to be visible and memorialized on here as much as possible. Thank you for sticking with me through all the ups and downs through the years. I do plan on still having personal blog posts as well as I get so much great feedback from all the things I share. You are all so appreciated. Thank you…just for being you. 🙂

Happy 2019!

Happy 2019 my Cozy friends! When the holidays begin, my orders pick up which means I’m rarely heard from unless someone is contacting me about an order. This results in a very belated Christmas and Happy New Year sentiment from me to you but I hope you know that I mean it, no matter what day I deliver. 🙂

Along with that, the very fact that I paint personalized Christmas ornaments that are mostly purchased as Christmas gifts, I can’t share those until after Christmas. This always puts me in a predicament because I’m not sure people are interested in seeing Christmas ornaments after the fact but since so much time and love are put into them, I’ll be sure to share some. I hope you enjoy them over the next several posts.

For now, though, I thought I’d share this one that I created for a local family.

This precious family orders a family ornament every year. This year, they asked for a Santa, Mrs. Claus, their two beautiful daughters as elves and their sweet puppy on the ornament. My heart is filled with joy to be asked to create such special keepsakes.

I truly hope your Christmas was so very merry and that your 2019 is off to a wonderful start.

The Busy Season

I can’t believe it’s almost October! This begins the busiest season I have through the year. Ornament orders trickle in off and on through the entire year but this time of year, everyone wants to get a special and thoughtful gift for others. It’s always an honor to be asked.

These are some local ornaments I was asked to create and just finished this week:

How much fun! Oh how I wish ornament orders were spread out more through the year. I love taking my time with them and really enjoy creating them. But, alas, this is usually not the case. That being said, if you know that you want to order them, please order as soon as possible. Even though you may not need them until December, please order now. A few physical limitations such as a pinched nerve and wrist/hand problems will limit me from the 12-16 hour days I have spent the last few years painting down to more breaks and less time at the paint desk. This year, I will be turning off the shop earlier than ever to make sure I can physically fill orders in plenty of time and with the least amount of damage to myself. That’s tough to think about but has become a necessity. 🙂

I’m excited to see what requests are made from me this year.

Pretty Little Topiary + County Fair

If you know me, you know I can’t go too long without painting a Shabby/Cottage Chic painting. While on Pinterest, I was searching for something else and came across a picture of a topiary in a vase which inspired me to paint this:

Many of my friends and family encouraged me to enter it in the county fair this week. It’s a good think I listened – it received a 2nd place award! It’s still on display at the fair but I’ll have it back after Sunday and it will be available for purchase.

Each time I paint a Shabby Chic inspired piece, I fall in love with it all over again. I’d say it’s a safe bet to think that you’ll see similar pieces very soon. 🙂

Country Farmhouse Decor

How much are you loving the Farmhouse Decor style that’s so popular right now? Everywhere I turn, I am inspired by this decorating trend. It’s clean, yet stylish and personable. There’s no doubt that we owe this to Chip & Joanna Gaines and Fixer Upper/Magnolia Market. The design style is perfection…at least to many of us.

Being inspired by something – I mean genuinely inspired by something – is such a blessing! I’m talking about the truly inspired, down deep in your soul, moving kind of thing. Recently, a friend suggested I join a DIY farmhouse inspired group and since then, all sorts of new ideas and plans have filled my head and my notebooks!

If asked, I would sum up the idea of the Farmhouse Style with the warmth of wooden signs that speak of family, practical pieces that have function and a cozy aspect that makes a house into a home. Did I miss something?

Here’s a brand new item coming from The Cozy Loft I’ll have available very soon:

This is a standard size mason jar with a silver lid and I’ve hand painted a goat on there along with some black dots for contrast around the piece. This would be beautiful for kitchen storage and decor or would also be perfect on a desk, vanity or really anywhere your imagination can place it.

I love that I can offer so many things to make others happy. It’s what drives me and what pushes my creativity. Just wait til you see the other new goods I’m working on.

Hand Painted Miniature/Dollhouse Signs

Happy 2017! I hope your year is off to a WONDERFUL start and if not, I hope it turns that direction as soon as possible!

I have a great deal of success with my Christmas ornaments and have been working to find something to create the rest of the year. While the ornaments sell year round, there are times when it’s a full time job (more than a full time job if I’m being real about that) but there are many times where it’s just too too quiet.

This year, I plan on trying several things that interest me. For a long time (and you remember this if you’ve followed my blog a while), I have had interest in Shabby Chic decor as well as miniatures. This sort of inspired me to create a few new items:

And then, I wanted to do a little rustic one…you know for log cabin enthusiasts like myself 🙂

Click any of the photos to go directly to the listing on ebay if you’re interested in seeing more about them.

And, most of all, thanks for sticking with me through all my changes and through feeling my way around. Eventually, just maybe I’ll have it all together with a direction and a purpose. Somehow, it feels closer than it ever has 🙂
