Have you noticed how drab the house looks when all the Christmas decorations come down? It’s sad to me to see all the pretty red and green things long gone. While my decor has some color to it and isn’t drab, I think it’s those pops of color that really keep the winter season from becoming drab.
For this very reason, I’ve expanded my Valentine’s Day decor to add some beautiful red and white…and even a little black…to my home. I created a Valentine’s Day initial flag a few years ago and am always so excited to pull it out. They are available in my etsy shop here if this is something you might like to add to your holiday decorations.
Then, I made a wreath for the carport door using white mesh, different ribbons, pipe cleaners and a heart wire wreath form.
These things make me so happy and I think the touch of black is unexpected yet it adds some unexpected boldness to the pieces. What do you think? Let me know if you try it out! 🙂
Sweet burlap is perfect for rustic weddings. Maid of Honors, Bridesmaids, Matrons of Honor, Flower Girls and Junior Bridesmaids are all important in a wedding and what better way to ask them to be there for you on your special day than with these?
I’ve had these in my shop for quite a while but I never get tired of creating them. These sachet gifts were created with burlap and feature distressed and personalized tags, raffia, jute and hemp….and some of the most beautiful smelling, long lasting lavender you can imagine. When I say long lasting, it lasts for years. A simple pinch of the pillow will renew the fragrance when it’s faded a bit.
The Chevron patters is all the craze right now, it seems. It does “pop” off a canvas or any type of painting, so I decided to try it with one of the burlap flags. Well actually, a customer asked for one with dots or chevron, and I was happy to oblige! Here’s how it turned out:
I have these available in my shop here. All these flags take a long while to create, but I figure it all works out in the end. I make a little money, get to do what I absolutely love plus someone gets a great deal to add a little personalization or beauty to their yard. It’s a win-win, right? 🙂
Lately, I’ve been staying super busy and that’s a very good thing. I don’t know what to do with myself when I’m not busy filling orders, except keep creating new things. It’s that much more delightful when a customer contacts me with a request to create something new for them! Those are so awesome, just like the Chevron flag. 🙂
My BFF is always a wonderful friend to commission art from me to give as gifts…or to keep for herself! That’s a true friend who refuses to let you give her a discount or get something for free because she knows it’s my livelihood. Most people think it just basically costs nothing because it’s handmade – that’s so not true! I can’t say how much I appreciate her thought process and her sweet consideration. It’s obvious as to why she’s my BFF!
The flag took a really long time – and painting on burlap with detail work is not the easiest thing in the world – but somehow the end result was so gratifying! Here’s how he turned out…
Hope y’all had a great Labor Day holiday and weekend! I sure was busy, which is a very, very good thing! I was able to LISTEN to, not view, the Vols game over the weekend. I could have watched it for $39.99 according to my Dish Network rep. Um, yeah, that’s not gonna happen. If I were going to pay money to watch, I’d rather just pay to go see it in person! It just seems wrong somehow!! 🙂
There’s a few new things to show y’all that I’ve been working on…I added a new option to one of my Tennessee flags which I have here in my shop.
And, then I created a new fall monogrammed flag that’s in my shop here and looks like this:
Do y’all think maybe my mind is on Fall and Football? Yes, I do believe it is!!! 🙂
