Farmhouse Snowmen!

I guess I was “Farmhouse” even when Farmhouse wasn’t cool. I’ve had what is now considered Farmhouse decor for many years though I more of an eclectic Farmhouse style because I also love rustic, Shabby Chic and Parisian types of decor. It somehow all works together because it’s cozy. Seeing the name of my business, The Cozy Loft, tells you it’s not just a persona or a gimmick for me…it’s who I am.

I wanted to create some snowmen in the Farmhouse style and as one thing led to another, I searched near and far for Buffalo Plaid fabric for the scarf. Seemingly, it’s in high demand as that was like looking for a needle in a haystack. Sure, I could have ordered it but I’m the kind of person who needs to create when I’m excited and envisioning something. There was no time to waste! Finally, I did find it and I have a photo here of how it turned out:

Oh I love it! I did go ahead and make a couple of others to join him so that I could have a few listed in my shop:

You can see them by clicking on the link here. I have another form that I’ve made more of the country/rustic style. He still needs a photography shoot so I’ll share him later on. They delight me! Sometimes it’s difficult to sell things when you want to hoard them all for yourself.  😀

Resolutions – New Year 2018

Picasa-2B3-2B172018-2B45747-2BPM

Hello Lovelies! Happy New Year! I hope this year is off to a wonderful beginning for you and that you are doing well on your resolutions if you decided to make any.

As for me, I made several and I’ll share a few with you.  My main one is to get closer to God. I plan to study my Bible more and listen to more sermons as I’m going about my daily work. This past year, I continued writing daily in a prayer journal and added a short daily devotional to that. So, this year, I’m adding in listening to a sermon per day of some sort. If you have recommendations for any audio books that would be a blessing, please feel free to share. I would love that!

Another resolution I made is to try new things. This one can mean anything so it can’t be planned as the other one can. I don’t want there to be structure because I want it to be spontaneous and exciting. Just like writing this post…I just suddenly decided to do it. No structure, no plan, no real topic in mind. Then, I decided since I’m still within the first week of the year, perhaps I can add a goal of at least one post per week. That should be fun, too!

I’m still in the planning stages and in prayer for exactly what this website will become. Other than knowing I needed to grab it when it finally came available (I’ve waited patiently for it for years!) and other than getting the graphics design for it, I’m waiting for direction.

In the meantime, just know that I wish you all my best for this year. I’m excited to be on this journey with you.

Lots of love!
Rhonda

Lent Followup

Good Evening All!

Back on February 10th, I made this post and challenge for Lent. I’m not sure if anyone did this along with me but I wanted to be sure and give you an update.

I’m exhausted as I’ve worked outside yesterday and today pruning trees, mowing my yard and such so this will be a quicker post than I meant to make. Still, I felt it was important to get this posted today since today is officially the last day of Lent.

Here are the 40 items that I’ve given up for Lent:

There are a couple of pairs of new, unworn shoes underneath these as well as two new pillow cases, but the majority are clothing items. I wasn’t sure I’d have enough to total all 40 days originally so I included the pantry as an option but I was able to do this from my closet entirely. While I have very little left, it was cleansing to rid myself of so many things. None of these were items I wore, but I suppose they were placeholders until I found something better. Actually, I’ve realized 90% of my closet is exactly that.

There were items I could wear but didn’t like for one reason or another and I originally planned to keep them, but as it went further in the process, I included many of those as well. I wouldn’t have minded to have had another week doing this as it may have forced me to get rid of a few more pieces I probably should. In all honesty, there is really not much left. Initially, I thought this would be stressful to have so little left but it’s freeing and this was something I didn’t expect at all.

I hope you all have a wonderful Easter tomorrow. I hope your heart feels the depth of the day and that it overflows your life with so much love and gratitude, you can’t help but share it.

The wonderful part of this is that it can be used for each holiday and you can still use the bag for gifts. Just replace the bag with a new one and you’re set. So easy and so so sweet!

If you decide to try this, would you take a photo and tag me on Instagram? I’d LOVE to see what creative things you all can do!! Instagram: @thecozyloftshop

Snowman Love

Time is flying, it seems! December 1st is here and I’m feeling the magic of Christmas over here in Tennessee! I hope it’s the same for all of you. In the past, I know I’ve had some years that were very difficult for some reason or another…and that happens to all of us. But for each of you, I’m hoping this year finds you in a wonderful and happy place!

With thoughts of colder weather and the holidays, not to mention finally having the time to paint, I finished a new painting last night that I’m smitten with, to say the least! This is “In the Meadow”:

I have the original listed here on ebay auction: In the Meadow  Edited: this item has sold, I’ve unlinked it as it no longer shows up on ebay. Thank You!

And, the prints are listed here in my etsy shop: In the Meadow

This little rustic snow couple just worked their way out of my paintbrush, like magic…which is totally fitting for the magic of the holidays 🙂

Pretty in Pink

I promise I’m doing things other than romantic pink creations…the others just aren’t ready yet. Besides, if you’re an artist or even if you’re not, you probably know that you have to run with the creativity wherever it flows. Lately it just happens to be flowing into the pink romantic river! There are other goodies in the works though and I’ll have at least one of them finished tomorrow so I can share it with you 🙂

I finished up two things yesterday and sealed them, letting them dry overnight so I could let them go through their photo shoot today. Here we go:

Cottage Picture Frame Ornament with a Mini Rose Painting

And

Cottage Pink Stocking Ornament

You can click here to see the picture frame ornament listing or here to see the stocking ornament listing. Both are hanging out on ebay as we speak. 🙂

I get into different modes of creativity, but I always go back to cottage creations. I especially love rustic and worn things, which are things I’d want in my own accent pieces and home so I’m going to be sharing as many of these goodies as possible in the next week especially! Why? Because I have challenged myself to create at least two new things every day for a week. That may not sound like a lot but I have a “real job” that I do so my time can be limited even though I’m self employed. I really should say even more so because self employment is a very difficult task to undertake and is NOT for the faint of heart! However, that’s a story for another day because well…this is my fun zone. My place to enjoy myself and not think about “work”.

Hope your weekend is off to a good start! 🙂

Pumpkin of Roses

I mentioned a few posts ago that I can feel Fall in the air. The web and social media that I frequent have loads of breathtaking photos of oranges, browns and yellows….true Fall colors. A few days ago, one of my friends posted a photo with two foam pumpkins painted like candy corn! I kept thinking about all the things I could do with a pumpkin like that. Next time I was out shopping at a big box store, I picked up a little pumpkin to try my hand at painting it.

Here’s the finished pumpkin…(click here to see the listing)

I’m crushing over this feminine design…and can just imagine the conversation piece this would make in a like setting for a romantic home 🙂
