Roses and a Heart
Finally! I was able to finish a new little pretty for my shop. Seems like I started my new job in April that I’ve been MIA with so many things I dearly love. Alas, I did get a chance to complete something…
I’ve forever loved pretty little storage containers. From jars to boxes, there are so many cute ways to store things that we love. This little heart shaped box was such a joy to create. I actually started working on it a while ago and have worked on it occasionally for a couple months. Here it is:
I’m so happy with this little box and there’s so many possibilites with it. It’s so much better than a plain little storage box to me. Plus, it’s a sweet baby pink – what could be better??

Pretty Mother of Pearl
I haven’t shown any of my very recent creations to you lately. It seems I have so many different things to talk about that I’m running a bit behind!
One of my favorite new additions to my shop, just listed over the weekend is this hand painted, original Mother of Pearl pendant:
It was so much fun to create and I am really pleased with the final product. This little owl would be adorable to wear with so many things – just adorable!

Spring + Owls
I’ve missed a few days of blogging – how can this be? First, I hope you had a wonderful St. Patrick’s Day. It was a lovely day here with beautiful weather. (I can’t wait for Spring!!)
I’ve been super busy lately working on our house, getting started on our garden, and of course creating things. While I’m still trying to keep up with all the blogs of my friends, I’ve had trouble getting to my own!
I’ll have lots to tell you about the garden and what our plans are. Hopefully there will be pictures galore. For this weekend, we have rented a tiller so we can prep the ground. While it’s still a bit too soon to start planting outside, the planting is definitely going on indoors!
I have listed a few new sachets in The Cozy Loft shop. As for The Owl Barn, I’ve had a few new creations for that as well.

Repurposed With a Purpose
Realizing I’ve been sort of neglecting my “The Cozy Loft” shop since I have been working on my new owl barn shop, I have been taking some time here and there to create some new pretties for my pretty and pink shop.
One of the things that Charles and I have been working so hard to improve upon is going green and being much more mindful of the trash we contribute to our landfills. An item that I have started repurposing are glass jars that various foods come in – like jellies, sauces, spices and even our chicken bullion! You should expect to see lots more of these in my shop, as I have big plans for them!
Here’s my first repurposed jar to offer in my shop and I just listed it mere moments ago (click here to go to the listing):
I was really excited to do this and have even found myself looking for glass instead of plastic because of the reuses for it. So many things could be stored in here and with the clear portions, you can see what’s inside at a glance.

Farm Life
Americana paintings and art has long been an interest of mine. I’ve recently been working on an Americana painting for The Owl Barn of mine and just finished it late last night. Being just exhausted (and sleeping almost 11 hours last night!), I listed it in the shop today.
I realize I should occasionally take some before pictures of my art, like while it’s in progress because that might be of interest. At least it interests me to look at other artists before/during pictures. Here’s one I took during the process:

The addition of the sheep was fun for me, but of course, the most fun addition was the little owl. Can you see him peeking out of the tree?
Ok, I know! I am having waaaaayyyyy too much fun here! Hope your week has gotten off to a wonderful start!
The Newest Owls
The newest addition the “The Owl Barn” is this pendant, an original art pendant made on a scrabble tile. So cute and such a sweet little fellow:

If anyone were to see my house right now, I think they would be amazed at the owls, owl ideas, and owl sketches going on. It’s amazing how inspired I am and how passionate I’m feeling. Does it show?
Work? No! Play? Yes!!
Finally, I have had a chance to move a few things from my shop “The Cozy Loft” to my new shop “The Owl Barn“. I felt my owls were totally lost in the cozy shop, so it’s great to have them in their proper home. YAY! I moved the large painting (11×14):

In My Own Little World
I’ve had a fun, yet busy weekend bustling around the Owl Barn creating all kinds of new things. Most are still in process but here’s a few new things that I have newly listed in the shop and brand new, hot off the paint brush:
I feel like I’m in my own little world when I am creating these quirky and loveable creatures. Imagine their lives, their thoughts, their world…I have all these little stories going on for each painting and what that owl or those owls are doing and thinking. So much fun. So little time. Back to my sketch pad, because I have even more ideas! I can’t paint and sketch and sew and create fast enough!!
Owls and Fun!
My new owl shop is going just great! It seems there are lots of us owl lovers out there and I’m seriously, seriously having so much fun with them! You wouldn’t believe all the notes I’ve taken (both written and in my head!!) about things I want to do and want to figure out how to do…

Pink Princess and Blue Denim
Happy Tuesday! I’ve been working away today and finished a small ACEO painting as well as an Owl pillow.
The ACEO painting is a pink owl on a black background that I’m really loving the sharp contrast of:
and the pillow, made of light blue denim fabric that I’m totally lovin’ right now:

Blue and Pink Sachets
I have a couple new creations in my Cozy Loft etsy shop and I just had to show you. I’m so happy with how they turned out. The first is actually something I’ve had made a while and am just listing it in my shop. It’s a lavender dress form sachet with a tulle skirt and crocheted collar. I have hand sewn pearl beads all over the skirt – it’s so sweet and feminine:
and a strawberry shaped lavender sachet made from light blue denim, white eyelet lace, white satin ribbon and paper rosebuds:

One of a Kind Pendants!
I am having so much fun making these scrabble tile pendants. So much in fact that I have figured out a way to paint them! YES! Each pendant will be a hand painted, one of a kind, not to be duplicated piece!! So even if your co-worker or nemesis sees yours and has to have one, she will never find one just like it!
I don’t know about you but I like knowing something I have is one of a kind. There’s got to be nothing worse for a girl to walk into a party wearing the same dress as another. Or the same jewelry. So, this is great! While the work area – about 3/4 inch square- is tiny to work on, I still plan on doing several different styles and types. Obviously not everything can be done this way, but I’m going to try!

A New Item
I’m experimenting with different things and honestly having the time of my life! For the last few weeks, I’ve been working on gathering supplies and using some trial and error to create some scrabble tile pendants using my artwork. Several good etsy friends sell scrabble tile pendants and I own a few from them. They are so cute!
One of my really good friends suggested I make some of these pendants, so I have a few ready to put in my shop. I am really nervous about how they will go over, if they are right and what feedback will be. Since I am so new with them, I’m going to sell the first few at a really low, discounted price so I can get some feedback on them before selling more. While they look like the ones I have purchased from some of the best scrabble pendant makers I know, I’m still needing reassurance.

Changes
It’s time to tell you what I’ve been working on. For a while now, I’ve felt my shop “The Cozy Loft” was getting a little too “all over the place” and was really not quite consistent. My vision for it was really cottage, shabby, chic, pink, victorian, and romantic. An example:
While doing all these fantastic things, I discovered other passions of mine as well which, while similar in some ways, are vastly different in others. I have found a true passion for owls that I didn’t know I had. I ADORE them!! In every shape, size, color, style, material, oh my! So, I created a shop just for my owls called “The Owl Barn” . Here’s a sampling:
Next, I realized I had a really vast array of different types of paintings. Those are the things that I create that are freeing to my soul. They are close to my heart and make me feel youthful…thus the name of that shop “Painting Girl” . A sampling from there:
I joke with my friends and say that I must have 3 different personalities. No, that’s not true. Really there are probably more. ;D
Ok, all joking aside, I really feel like this will do me well. I already feel more organized and as if I have things where they need to be. For a while I contemplated having a separate blog for each shop but I realized that’s not me either. I want everything contained in one lovely blog.
The next dilemma is working on either keeping this blog with the same name or get one that would easily capsulate all my adventures. I realize that all can be right here together and I will keep “thecozyloft.wordpress.com” just as it is. The only difference will be that I will talk about all the facets of my world as it is…good and bad.
There will be lots more to see around here and I’m really, really excited about all that is to come! I hope you are too!
400th Sale – Sooooo Close!!

Treasury Feature
I am so incredibly honored to be in treasuries. Any time it happens, it absolutely makes my day!! I need to start showing you those here, so I can remember who did what and repay them in some of my future treasuries, as well. I always try to include some of my friends, some people I don’t know, and some people who have featured one of my things, when I can. I think it’s just the right thing to do

Bloom Anywhere
One of my favorite sayings is “Bloom Where You Are Planted” and that’s the title of my newest piece of art. I worked with watercolors to give it a cool background and this is the finished piece:
I think everyone needs to be reminded to flourish no matter the circumstances. This little 4×6 print is the perfect size to give any of us a gentle reminder to do just that. I hope you love it as much as I do.
